Today I choose to take care of my younger self—of what she needed to believe, of all she had to do to survive, of her fears, of her dreams, of the child she was and the woman she was becoming.
I choose to revisit all that she told herself to find the courage to take the next step. I choose to witness what served her then and if it can be rewritten now.
I choose to acknowledge all the energy and strength she put into our dreams, into figuring things out, into finding a way home.
I choose to celebrate her kindness, her missteps, her humanness and how much she cared and cares still, body and soul.
I choose to hug the parts of her that got frozen in time in our most painful moments. I choose to awaken the parts of us that learned that joy matters and that miracles do happen.
I choose to dance in her name, to write her story and most importantly to sing all of her songs.
I thank her for getting me here and I swear to get her there. I bathe in the stillness of our joined beings in the eternal now.
Today I choose to take care of my younger self… I take on my shoulders the burdens she was way too young and unskilled to take on, and I welcome her in my heart where she can finally be safe and free and sung.
