Today I choose to welcome my fears

Today I choose to welcome my fears—with open arms, an open mind and an open heart.

Today I choose to welcome my fears—with open arms, an open mind and an open heart.

I choose to let them rock me, shake me, crush me—and change me from the inside out.

I surrender to their calls and let them speak or scream or write or move in and through me.

I don't judge them, I don't resist… I don't react! and I don't fix.

I welcome my fears as I would welcome a friend in need.

I give them the water they need to quench their thirst for safety. I give them the food they need to quiet that hunger for control that doesn't help and makes it worse, ironically.

I tuck them in in the bed of my sweetest inner chamber, so that they can finally catch a little bit of rest, a tiny moment of respite, a dream even!

I see that terrified inner child screaming at me not out of hate or cruelty: children are only trying to make sense of a world that they don't understand and that refuse to understand them. That alone is scary…

Today I choose to welcome my fears, even though they terrify me and seemingly rob me of my peace. My fears are there to warn me that something that doesn't feel right! My job is not to disparage them, my job is to check if there's a monster under the bed or not.

Today I choose to welcome my fears because my fears are not an inconvenience, my fears are a call for love.
